This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills and experience in the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist in the CVICU at this leading children’s hospital dedicated to providing the highest level of care to the children it serves. This state-of-the-art children’s hospital has just recently been awarded Magnet recognition for nursing excellence, and was one of eight children’s hospitals named to the Leapfrog group’s “Top Hospitals 2007” list.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Cardiovascular ICU is accountable for staff functions that enhance the delivery of quality patient care to the patients it serves, providing cost-efficient and effective health care in the family centered care environment. They lead performance improvement initiatives and develop programs for specific units or a specific patient population. The CVICU is a 12 room unit adjacent to the 42 bed PICU. It includes two fully equipped procedure rooms for life-saving surgery on children too ill to be transported from the unit, leading edge technology for monitoring children after complex surgery, private patient rooms with sofa/sleep beds for parents, satellite nursing stations throughout the unit and advanced equipment that gives caregivers 360 degree access to patients. This is a very active unit providing care for over 1,200 children with life-threatening illnesses and injuries every year.

Qualifications:
MSN; California RN license; minimum of two years' pediatric nursing experience in specialty area; BLS, CNS, ALS; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; one year of experience in clinical nurse specialist role preferred.
