The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the care of neurosurgery patients from admission to discharge to include performing admission H & Ps, plan of care and day-to-day management of these patients. The Nurse Practitioner will manage (in collaboration with the attending) the entire inpatient course. Practitioner will initiate referrals and follow up on consults to other providers. This job requires the knowledge and skills necessary to provide neurosurgical care appropriate to patients ranging in age from 0 to 18 years. The PNP in Neurosurgery Services must be able to apply new information, knowledge and experiences on the job and learn through their application.

Qualifications:
MSN or graduate of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants, required; current RN license in the State of Texas, required; recognition as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (or eligible) or physician assistant licensed in the State of Texas, required; current CPR/BLS and current PALS certification, required; current acute care certification, or within the next two years, required; previous pediatric neurosurgery/critical care experience, preferred.
