Another key point is that bonuses are a common way organizations can increase annual salaries for APRNs and PAs. Organizations have different models for calculating the bonus structure. Bonuses range from 1% -3% for merit or on the overall profitability of the organization. Alternatively, hospitals and clinics may calculate bonuses based on a percent of collections from RVUs billed or on patients seen. 

Additionally, many hospitals and clinics offer bonuses as a means of investing in and motivating APPs to have excellent outcomes. Positive outcomes include increased patient volume, merit-based accomplishments, and an increase in the overall profitability of the organization.
